About Me:
I am currently a brain injury survivor. In 1997, a benign tumor in my cerebellum hemorrhaged and bled into my brain. Basically it exploded in my head. I've learned that most people die from this.
The surgical removal of it therefore affected my left side. My entire left side became spastic and uncoordinated, and still is. A huge and devastating loss for me!
Although I have regained my essential functions and the ability to walk, my balance is unstable and my endurance is poor. This circumstance is offering me time to transform some ancient, unprocessed grief. And as in a metamorphosis, the butterfly does eventually emerge from its dark chrysalis and ascends to beauteous flight!
Before, I was a drummer, a singer, a guitar player, a maintenance man. I enjoyed success and had a lot of friends as a freelance drummer. Even though the cut to the right side of my cerebellum left my entire left side of my body uncoordinated (pre-brain surgery I was a four limb drummer, post-brain surgery I am a two limb “drummer”), I know without a doubt that things happen for a good reason!
Even though I battle daily with depression, I know that my life is a discovery in process of self acceptance.

I've been on a new and uncharted path now for a decade. My “Plan B” is computers (as is with many brain injury survivors).
Being that I love to sink my teeth into projects, since 1997 I have:
- Created my own website called Wholeographic Self
- Created my wife's website (Connie Cook Smith) called Journal Journeys , and others
- Given talks on Secular Spirituality
- Learned how to do video editing. And from there started my own business/hobby/service called Memory Magic where I take other people's photos, slides, video, reel-to-reels, and produce a little personal mini-movie for them. Also, Connie can interview a person via video or cassette (she used to be a reporter) to archive their story, adventures, experiences, or achievements for themselves or descendants.
- Started a Yahoo Group called We Have Heaven based off of the song from the British band “Yes” from the album “Fragile.” The purpose of the Yahoo group is an attempt to integrate both YesFans and spiritual seekers.
- Started a Zaadz Pod called Yes We Have Heaven.

My wife, Connie, is extremely creative and gifted. I have helped her get on CDBaby.com, get her own blog, produce her true ghost story (and many other things). Currently, I am learning how to do layout and design work towards publishing a book of hers at BookSurge.com.

Together Connie & I are a musical team call “Cook'N'Mark.” (Pre-brain surgery) It is all-original music about finding beauty and loving life. One moment you are lullabied with sweet vocal harmonies with acoustic guitar. The next, you are soaring to the outer expanses of space via keyboards and percussion. Tablas create an exotic Eastern mood, and Connie's lilting voice emerges out of the mists of Ireland.

“I am one cell in the body of God.” - Connie Cook Smith
“So where is this ocean they keep talking about?” - Student fish to the Teacher fish
I am a Sun of God at the center of my own solar system. - Mark Smith
“The center is everywhere.” - Black Elk
